| St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church exists to give the gift of heaven through Jesus Christ, and to inspire one another to share the joy and meaning of daily life with Him. |
The following nine goals represent the will and determination of the membership of St. John's Lutheran Church, under the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit in the Word of God, to carry out the work of the Gospel which has been entrusted to us. Each goal is a statement of a "preferred condition," what we desire for the future mission and ministry of the congregation: Each week we highlight one of these goals.
Outreach: The members of St. John's are eagerly sharing the Gospel message of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord in our outreach to our members, our community and to the world in cooperation with our brothers and sisters throughout the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
(Is. 56:8, Mt. 28:18, 2Cor. 5:20, 1Pe. 3:15).
Worship: The members of St. John's are actively and regularly participating in a variety of meaningful worship experiences, inspiring and encouraging one another as we give all glory to the God of our salvation.
(Ps. 150, Acts 2:42-47, Eph. 5:19 - 20, Heb. 10:25).
Education: The members of St. John's are nurturing and discipling our children and adults with the love of Jesus through cradle-to-grave curriculum in the Word of God, and staffing appropriately to ensure that we make disciples for the twenty-first century.
(Deut. 4:1-14, Eph. 4:11-16, Col. 2:6-7, 2Tim. 3:14-17).
Youth: The members of St. John's are equipping and empowering today's young people in God's Word for effective Christian living and sharing of faith.
(Ps. 119:9, Prov. 1:1-7, 1Tim. 4:12, Eph. 4:11-16, Col. 2:6-7, 2Tim. 3:14-17).
Family: The members of St. John's, recognizing the primary spiritual importance of the family unit, are providing resources and opportunities that encourage families to be Christ-centered and productive.
(Gen. 8:19, Duet. 6:4-9, Eph. 6:1-4, 1Tim. 3:5).
Elderly: The members of St. John's are honoring our older members by serving them faithfully and utilizing their wisdom and gifts.
(Lev. 19:32, Job 12:12, Ps. 71:9,18,Tit. 2:2-3).
Stewardship: The members of St. John's are responding to God's love by sacrificial first-fruits giving of time, talents and treasure, making certain that everything (committees, meetings, program, facilities, etc.) Gives glory to the God who gives us everything.
(Mal. 3:10, 1Cor. 10:31, 2Cor. 8:9, 1Pet. 4:10).
Attitude: The members of St. John's are, by God's grace, constantly and prayerfully reflecting a Christ-like spirit of peace, cooperation, love and humility, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ, as we share the joy of living and working together in His Kingdom.
(Ps. 98:1, Eph. 5:21, Phil. 4:4, Tit. 3:1-2).
Fellowship: The members of St. John's are living for Jesus Christ every moment, and enjoying the deeper and more meaningful relationships which occur as a result of belonging to Him; we are seeking to bring this greater "citizenship" to bear on our relationships together at St. John's, with family and friends, and towards all with whom we come into contact.
(Ps. 133:1, Eph. 2:19-22, Phil. 3:20, 1Pet. 2:9).
