I grew up on the West Coast. It has been a rich experience to adjust to life in the Midwest. After a career in the energy industry, I left Cali, along with my family, to head off to the seminary in St. Louis in 2004. My wife, Carrie, and kids, Robby and Dani, are the greatest gifts from God and we love the new challenges of each and every day. Life is an amazing adventure which requires faith and creates opportunity for confession and forgiveness each and every day. I am passionate about making theology and faith part of everyday life.
Lutheran education has been in my blood since I was a student at Bethlehem Lutheran School in Kennewick, WA. I continued my Lutheran education at Concordia Lutheran High School in Portland, OR. My undergraduate work was completed at Concordia St. Paul, MN, and I completed my masters in educational administration at Concordia University Wisconsin. I have taught in Lutheran schools in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. Since 1993 I have been serving as a full time Lutheran school administrator.
My wife, Jane, and I have three children living in southeastern Wisconsin and one grandson. God willing, in July we will have another grandchild.
My personal mission statement is "Follow to Lead." If I want to lead others to Christ (it is my desire) I need to follow Him myself.
Mary, I, our four children, and our dog Oatmeal made the cross country trek to West Bend in August of 2004 after 16 years in California. The St. John's family has shown us more love than we could have ever imagined. While missing family, friends, and shorter winters in California, the Lord continues to lead and bless.
God has blessed me with a wonderful husband, Warren; and two special children, Jon and Gabby -- both happily married. After 22 years of teaching preschool - 8th grade, I changed careers to counseling children through adults at St. John's Church as well as Northshore Clinic in West Bend and Cedarburg. I love to coordinate spirituality with psychology to help people find their value in Christ, experience more of God's blessings, and support them through difficult times.
Have been on staff since being called from Elkhart, Indiana in June 1998. I married Deb in 1974 while we were in college at Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Nebraska. We have two married children: Jon is working on his Masters Degree at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and Gabrielle on her Masters Degree at Marquette. My day is spent taking care of any of the details of the 300+ worship services we have at St. John's each year. I write all the worship services other than the chapels and participate in a musical capacity as a director and organist.
It is indeed an honor to have a job that is so varied and which I enjoy more each year. I've also started the travel ministry at St. John's and currently am working on a trip to Oberammergau Germany in September 2010.
I have been teaching at St. John's for a few years. I was raised in West Bend and am happy to be back, living near my family. I am blessed with a strong Christian family which prays for each other. I love seeing my nieces and nephews grow in their faith and love for God and learning to trust in Him and His will!

St. John's has been my church home for basically my entire life. I was baptized, confirmed and married here. My wife, Mel, and I met here at youth group and our first child, Elias, was recently baptized here as well.
I was brought on as a part-time staff member in 2005; working within Youth, Worship, and Children's ministries until 2008. I now serve full-time with mainly the worship ministry; specifically the contemporary worship teams. I love it and it's a total honor.
Mel and I have been married since 2005 and were blessed with our first child in November of 2009. We love to play volleyball, go fishing, and watch sports together. (Yes, Mel watches sports with me, it’s awesome!)
