2010 India Mission

1/18/10  Hello from the India team!
(Here is our "Top Five" List of what has been going on throughout our India trip!)

1. We have been lifted up on eagles wings with all of the flying that we've done. Our first flight was over 7,000 miles! Our second flight only lasted about 3 hours and boy were we tired! The third flight a number of things could have gone wrong but GOD WAS GOOD! We safely landed. Thank you for all the prayers, we have many more miles to go, but God had brought us safely through Nagercoil and and up to Kodaikanal.

2. After all that travel we were ready to visit the children. We soon found out that there was a special sporting event that was being celebrated for three days at the Bethania home in Nagercoil. These three days (January 14,15,16) also serve as the Indians Pungal Festival. This also brought together over 6 different Bethania homes for three days of athletic events, which meant there was over 300 Bethania kids present! What a blessing it was to spend time with so many children at once. We were welcomed with so much love and hospitality. We were considered the "special guests" of the event what an honor.

3. We found comfort in saying some goodbyes because we will have an opportunity to visit most of the Bethania homes individually throughout the rest of the time. As a result, we were back on the road to stay at our hotel to rest up before leaving to drive up the beautiful mountains to Kodaikanal. The drive was about 3 hours and we soon experienced India driving which puts Chicago traffic to shame. We safely arrived in Kodaikanal and nested into our hotel.

4. This morning we were able to sleep in a bit before having our morning devotion. This devotion was shared with about 8 other natives of Kodaikanal. We were able to dive into scripture both in English and Tamil (the language of Tamil Nadu which is the state that we are traveling through). After our songs and devotion we spent some time in prayer with the people. They also prayed over us in Tamil as well. What unity Christ is showing us!

5. Last but most certainly not least we were able to spend more time with children. We visited the Nathaniel Day Care which is also supported by Bethania. It was a short visit but did not lack in the Spirits presence. The children performed and danced for us. They also sang and some spoke the Lord's Prayer, ABC's & colors.

This is a quick look at the last four days of our trip. The Spirit has been moving in big ways and we are preparing to see Him at work more and more! God's blessings to you as well!

In Christ's AMAZING Love,

India Team

Hello,This is nice. But I

Hello,
This is nice. But I think in the way you define the topic, tesking it is good but not in the way it should be.. You start it good and cover all the things but in the middle you leave the actual topic 000-086 and did not focus on the specific topic you started.. 000-100 But over all its good. And I am a student and did different ……………. These are good but taught as well. Hope more topics will be discuss from your side. 000-111 Have a good day.

God's Mysterious Ways

It seems that every year, the St. John's India Mission coincides with the Hindu harvest celebration of Pungal Day. It is a colorful event sometimes celebrated with parades etc., but isn't it wonderful how God used it this year to bring so many more children together (see item 2.) to celebrate His word with the India team.

Nagercoil, by the way is located at the very southern tip if India and is the site, only about a quarter of a mile down the road from the Bethania girls home, of Concordia Seminary of the India Evangelical Lutheran Church, our partner church in India.

May God continue to bless the children and the India team.
